REVEREND HENRY O. TUELL, IV
Father Hank grew up an Army brat and has lived in 9 different states from New York to California and many states in between. He graduated from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006 with a BS in Psychology and earned an M.Div from General Theological Seminary in 2017. Before coming to Saint John's, Fr. Hank was the Associate for Community Life at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Chandler, AZ. His ministry at St. Matthew's focused on new-comer and welcome ministry, outreach, Youth, Children and Family Ministries, and Community Life.
Before Saint Matthew's Fr. Hank worked at Trinity Wall Street Church as a sacristan and Deacon, also worked as a Chaplain Assistant at Canterbury Downtown, the Episcopal Diocese of New York's College Ministry Program, and completed his seminary field education placement in the Pastoral Care Department at Trinity Wall Street.
Prior to attending seminary, Fr. Hank worked in the Information Technology Field both as a Project Manager, Business Analyst, and a Systems Engineer for several technology companies. He also served as a counsellor at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Billings, Montana, a residential youth treatment centre where he ran therapeutic counselling groups and developed spiritual and educational programming.
REVEREND GERALDINE SWANSON
Deacon Swanson was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of New York in 1997. She has served over 25 years as an educator in both public and private schools in New York. Deacon Swanson’s invaluable contribution to the Episcopal Church's diaconal community has been her documentation of the history of the New York School for Deaconesses and the life of Susan Knapp, the only historical study of an important diaconal role model in a pivotal era.
REVEREND RHODA TREHERNE-THOMAS
Born in Wales, The Rev. Rhoda Treherne-Thomas was ordained in 1974 after a successful career in teaching and doing missionary work. Her educating call brought her to work in Amman, Jordan, Tennesse, Michigan, and upstate New York. Along with her duties as an associate priest at St. John's, she also is a chaplain at Staten Island University Hospital in Stapleton.
Organist & Music Director
Stephen is a life-long musician and a renowned organist on Staten Island. He started his role as a music director in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Castleton, Staten Island, and also has worked in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY, and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Richmondtown, Staten Island. For the past 40 years he's been holding private recitals in the tri-state area.
ADMINISTRATIVE & SUPPORT STAFF
Carol is responsible for the financial aspects of the church, including upkeep of record books, paying bills, counting and depositing offerings, along with composing tax documents.
Karen takes care of the church's administrative needs during the week and handles most of the non-urgent correspondence at St. John's.
Facilities Manager &
Canterbury House Superintendent
Alban and his team are responsible for the physical upkeep of the church building, rectory, Canterbury House and overall maintenance of all facilities.
2020 ST. JOHN’S VESTRY MEETING SCHEDULE
Saturdays, March 7th, April 4th, May 2nd, June 6th, September 5th, October 3rd, November 7th, December 5th.
No formal meeting in July and August unless required. Meetings may be held in person or via conference call. Minutes of Vestry meetings are available to members of St. John's upon request.
